Debby Yanes, MD

Dr. Debby Yanes is an Attending Physician and serves as the Assistant Program Director at Southside Hospital.
Dr. Yanes attended Cornell University and received her Baccalaureate degree in Chemical Engineering. After graduating from Cornell, she was part of the Commercial Leadership Program at GE Silicones/Momentive Performance Materials. While working at GE, Dr. Yanes started to volunteer at a nearby hospital, where she developed an interest in medicine. She decided to enroll in and complete the Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Health Program at Stony Brook University, which lead to receipt of her degree in Medicine from Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
Dr. Yanes completed her residency in Emergency Medicine at Long Island Jewish Medical Center (LIJMC) – Northwell Health. During residency, she was very involved with educating the medical students, organizing wellness activities for her co-residents, interviewing prospective residents and was also part of the LIJ-NSUH Residency Unification Committee. Dr. Yanes was elected chief resident during her last year in residency. Upon graduating residency, the faculty at LIJMC awarded Dr. Yanes the “Izzy Segal Humanitarian Award” for her commitment to improve and uplift the lives around her.
After graduation, in addition to becoming an Attending at Southside Hospital, Dr. Yanes was in the Emergency Medicine Service Line Administrative Fellowship. As an administrative fellow, she was exposed to healthcare administration through several departmental rotations. She has worked with community and tertiary hospital leaders as well as finance leaders within Northwell Health.
Dr. Yanes is a native Long Islander, adrenaline junkie (hence EM) and loves to travel.
