Pediatric Emergency Medicine

The pediatric emergency medicine (PEM) focus will concentrate on clinical issues specific to the pediatric population with a focus on quality improvement practices. As participants continue along in the focus, they will gain progressive responsibility for pediatric issues, with additional assignments in each year of training. Participants in this focus may be interested in a dedicated PEM fellowship following completion of EM residency but any resident with an interest is encouraged to participate.
Year 1:
Participation on monthly Emergency Medicine Service Line pediatric quality committee.
Quarterly quality review of pediatric cases including review of all pediatric rapid responses or pediatric cardiac arrests.
Annual pediatric quality project.
Year 2:
Quarterly PEM journal club
Letter to editor or brief observation publications on pediatric topic
Year 3:
Specific elective pediatric rotation
