This week our interns traveled to Lake George for the NYACEP 2019 Scientific Assembly. Southside's newest EM physicians - The Southside Six - spent several days learning from some of the top minds in Emergency Medicine, as well as getting to know each other a little better. From relaxing by the pool to participating in a competitive volleyball tournament against some of the other New York EM residencies, our interns had a blast. Southside Emergency Medicine was well represented on the academic side of the conference as well. Our Associate Chair, Dr. William Apterbach, presented a poster on his research "The Impact of Comorbid Mental Health Diagnoses on Observation Unit Operations" and our Associate Residency Director, Dr. Andrew Mastanduono, was selected to present in the New Speaker Forum on Best Practices in Emergency Medicine - Upper GI Bleeds. The team is already counting the days until next year's Assembly!
